Removing harmful substances from the material cycles

There is a risk of harmful substances being transferred from recycled materials into new products and purposes of use. Safe circular economy requires that the use of harmful substances is reduced and controlled and that these substances are removed from the cycle.

Aid and information about chemicals are available from the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), among others.

Furthermore, the Circwaste project’s Circular Economy Service Centre provides support in matters related to harmful substances.
